It's time for Intrepid Theatre's 23rd annual Victoria Fringe Festival! This year, shows begin on August 27th and run through September 6th.

Don't forget to check the special event listings for block parties, kids events, show previews, zombie karaoke and the awards ceremony. The kick off party is actually 2 days before the shows begin so make sure your Tuesday night and Wednesday morning are scheduled off.

Fringe Block Party!

Kick off the Fringe in style with the block party, featuring a free, all ages concert with Daniel Wesley, The Racoons and The Blue Violets. Get 2-for-$5 Visa Buttons at this event, which also gives you access to the late-night festivities at the Fringe Club at Venue 5.

Also, a bit of a big deal... Intrepid Theatre and Bas Scheffers at Formicary in Adelaide, AUS, have put together a very cool iPhone/iTouch app for the Fringe Fest.

'The app contains a complete schedule of the festival. You can view the shows by genre or see a listing of all shows on a given date. And when you see a show description that intrigues you, you can bookmark it to create your own list of shows to see! '

If you are planning on going to any of the shows at the Fringe Fest, I highly recommend this app for planning your experience. Nothing is better than having the convenience of the whole festival's schedule at hand and not wasting paper. Having said that, the paper program is gorgeous with it's custom cover and innards by Toronto artist, Aaron Leighton.
