"This year’s 24 Hour Short Film Project resulted in a 1:10 minute short film called “Boingo Boingo” - named after the music generously supplied by Emmy-Award winning composer Charles David Denler.
Inspired by the playful song and a classic CGI exercise, Mark Bénard and the class created a whimsical, flowing montage of animated chrome balls that traverse through his hometown. A visually uplifting piece, Boingo Boingo ascends cultural and language boundaries by eliminating words and narrative. Shot with a Nikon D90 in Courtenay, BC all visual effects were completed by the students at Lost Boys Learning including the Senior Class: JongJun An, Monica Rodriguez Bautista, Clifford Green, Daniel Jackson and John Lipskie; and the Junior Class: Kaustubh Kaloti, Anooj Kiran, Jeton Lakna and Justin Wiles. Concept, Direction, Cinematography, VFX Supervision and Editing by Mark Benard; additional editing and coordinating by Gillian Benard.
The short film was shown as part of the “Neighbourhood” art exhibition at the Muir Gallery in Courtenay, BC, sponsored by the Comox Valley Community Arts Council."
