Mandy Tsung

A Configuration of Posture, Pose and Purpose was a great show for the syncing of established and emerging artists. Ayden gallery controlled the balance of several different mediums and techniques from artists that could have easily pulled their weight in solid solos.

Though the work itself was tight, I honestly felt the whole space could have been filled a little bit more. Ayden has set a president for interactive art shows and to reiterate my fondness for the pieces and the artists involved, there was something missing.

Perhaps it's not the show itself but the atmosphere on the night of the opening that need a bit more polish. I've been a little spoiled by Ayden's elaborate installations, interactive works of art and funky live bands so after my walk around this show, I found myself saying 'amazing work, but is that it?'.

Meeting and interacting with Kevin, Ben and Mandy were definitely my highlights as they are all mad talented and overall great individuals.

I know the next show at Ayden is going to be amazing as it is my favorite show of the year, Monsters and Robots. I spent WAY too much money there last year and since I loves the robots, I'm sure this year will be the same. More info on that show coming soon.

Here's a little sneak peek for the show tonight (Friday September 18th) at Ayden Gallery.

This is just a little sample of the brilliant pieces that will be in the show tonight. A huge group effort with a shit ton of fantastic talent.

I'll have some post show notes and an interview with Mr. Tour up after the weekend.

Ayden Gallery Presents::

Friday, May 22nd at the Ayden Gallery was the opening for 'The Nym Nums'. New Paintings by Kristian Adam and new wood crafted creations by Mike Kammerer and Conrad Sarzynick were on display. Stories by Michael Sasi.

The works of Kristian Adam maintains a brilliant story-telling effect through his whole exhibition. Deep, rich images play host to the tale excerpt posted beside it. Those that don't include the story literature encourage you to choose-your-own-adventure.

Mike Kammerer had some crazy wood crafted pieces. His work is bananas. I don't understand how he does it but I could look at it forever.

Robots and Monsters

October 24th was the opening night for 'Robots and Monsters' at the Ayden Gallery in Vancouver. This is the second opening I've been to at the Ayden and both shows offered delights on many levels. The gallery's owner, Kenneth Lum, displays continuing dedication to push the envelope with the team of insanely talented artists of BRAVE Art and beyond.

I couldn't help myself, I had to buy this one called 'Robot Farts' by Darren Camplin. How can you not love this little stinker?!

Here we have a wall of goodies. From left to right, it goes as such: 'Karg' by Peter Hogan, 'Bizbot' by Peter Hogan, 'Robot Parts' by Hyuma Frankowski, 'Stupid Zombie' by Kaput, 'Robots don't die' by Hyuma Frankowski, 'untitiled at the time of photo(sorry), 'Orgy Bots 4000' by Ellen VanDooyeweert, 'Monsters' by Vangelis Christou, 'Robot' by Vangelis Christou, 'Monster Guy' by Nathan Thomas and 'Damage Camp' by Alison Lily.

Lani Imre

Another beautiful piece by Lani Imre
More Lani.

Superior works of Jennifer Chernecki.

Her work blows me away every time! Eye-crossing details that will draw you into every image.

Each piece is a true time-pirate.

3DLeigh had a solid collection out for 'Robots and Monsters'.

Thanks to Ken and the good folks at Ayden for their continuing support of the arts community.  Between the art, music and tripping around the Tinseltown complex, if you haven't been to one of his openings, you are truly missing out.
