From time to time I will unplug myself from the box and get out to enjoy/curse the real world.
Here's some stuff.

Went to some second hand stores around town looking for old frames for artist bios and found some unexpected thrift shop items. I also found a couple of wood pieces that I sent to the fantastic artists and rad lady, Lisa Romero of
Paper Bullet, to have some fun with. Hopefully she will send some images my way and I'll share them with you.

My girl, Watson, who works at the local post office, gave me the low down on this sick shelf unit that was on it's way to the dump. It is an original sorting shelf built in the 40's and still has the 'Product of the Canadian Government' metal plate on it. Not no more, suckas! P.S. It weighs more than your mom!

The cool cats of The Freakin' Coffeeshop, who are always throwing down some of the craziest objects of the past, recently received this wild art piece.
This stylized image of Dr. Timothy Leary as he appeared shortly before his death is the work of psychedelic blotter artist,
Mark McCloud.Sperlin came into 3 of these sheets (no, not dipped) and he has 2 left @ $40 each. You can contact the
cafe directly if you're interested.

Got this sweet ride from the rad crew at Blue Toque.
If you EVER need some cheap, damn hot sporty goods like bikes, surfboards, ice skates, helmets, headbands, whatever...these guys are solid.
There was a Canada Day parade, of course, so I went down to check out some of our local animals. First of all, there's this guy with the ponytail sticking out of the back of his baseball hat with the BONK jersey, (awesome explosion), then this guy rolled up with the headphone t-shirt that made it all better.

After the parade, we went down to Victoria and Sooke to spend a few days being weird in the city. We stayed on a boat in a dumpy harbor in Sooke, which only made it better. This isn't the boat that we stayed on but it was this other gem that was for sale ...I was enjoying it's glory until I was asked to leave because the dock was unstable.

We were there for 2 nights and I don't know if it was the heat or the beer cans floating by, but I had a hard time sleeping past 5am.
Apparently, the guy who owns this heap in the water was having problems with it and one day in a storm, it drifted out to the boom and sank...he decided that leaving it there was cheaper than hauling it out of the water. Nothing like throwing your garbage in the sea - thanks ass!

I don't know what it is about Sooke, but they have a hard time getting things right. Don't get me wrong, I like it here but come on, try and get your shit together.
Do it for the children.
One of the really cool things about Sooke, BC, is the
Sooke potholes. They are a full on destination spot and have some of the coolest deep water pockets ever. Also, if you keep going up the main access road, there is this really cool old building structure that was to be known as
Deertrail Resort. It's fenced off so you can't get in but a really long time ago, this project was started as a massive retreat high above the potholes, but somewhere between building the foundation and putting on the roof, they ran out of money and couldn't finish it.

Years ago, you could just walk in and hang out there but since then, it has been fenced off and mostly demolished to keep out the vandals and avoid lawsuits from idiots who hurt themselves. The whole structure is perched on a gnarly cliff and the wrong step is guaranteed to send you hurling down into the river.

Ok, enough poaching, time to move on to the city of Victoria. I used to live here ages ago but moved away and every time I visit, I miss the hell out of it.
Great people, cool art scene, lots of good food and the best underwear ever. I'm not a dude, but if I were...well, I guess I'd have to get a pair of these.

Victoria also has a small and cool Fisherman's Wharf. It's nothing like SF but it still boasts the same feel on a tiny scale.
Also, after much deliberation, I am seriously thinking about moving back to Vic so if any of you own a houseboat down here or a funky place in James Bay that you'd like to house swap on, let me know...for real.
So, I have tried really hard to keep this site fully wrapped around just the art world but as long as I'm going on about local stuff, I can't NOT mention this.

A short while ago there was international media attention on this little town I live in, Courtenay BC.
I know there are many sides to the story but the face of the issue was about some pretty violent racial attacks on local guy, Jay Phillips.
A few days later, there was a massive rally to let the world know that as a community, we do not tolerate this kind of behavior.
The rally was righteous.

In other less interesting news... this is my garden. It is small and mighty. I have a shit ton of lettuce, if anyone wants any.

Went to dinner a friend's place out at the lake. Great view, Great Tequila.

Got a chance to hit up the
Vancouver Island MusicFest this year, thanks to cool guy, Nik of
Dialect.
I didn't get to catch a lot of the shows but I made it just in time for the last song from this group,
Trombone Shorty and the Orleans Avenue.

Spent some time out in the wild with my friends, dead seal, Mike, Tory and Dan.
Last and least, these are my ridiculous beasts. If you follow me on
twitter, you know that I go on about them quite a bit. Seriously, it's out of control. My cat owns me and my dog is cooler than me so you know it's a good team. Whatever. Don't act like you're not impressed.

OHHH..and one last order of business. Everyone, meet my new assistant, Sydney.
