n/aIt's never a been as OK as it is now. One million ITSOKs are being cut from various solid woods with a tree being planted for each one sold. You can pick up one of Sighn's ponderous phrases over at Multi Polar Projects. While you're there, check out H.Mathis's AntiSuccess.com

n/aStrange Design

SOOO pleased to announce the business launch of Strange Design! The crazy talented Glen Strange, the guy behind the wallfarmers business card design, now lends his talent to the masses.

With all the action coming up in Whistler this coming weekend ( and through the week...) there are going to be so many artists to cover and so many events to post that I'm starting now.

Keep an eye on the sidebar for updates

n/a You know, for such a small town, there's a lot going on here
n/a

Awesome things to put on your body

n/aApril 4th was quite a splendid art night in Vancouver for those of us missing the shenanigans in Seattle at the ECCC.
Over at The Fall, Nasimo from Bulgaria had his 'Scratching Instinct' exhibition then just a few blocks away the team at El Kartel opened '100 Amigos' to a packed house.
n/a

My buddy Nik over at Dialect sent me this great clip on circular painting.

n/aApril 17th to 26th is the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC. 14 years in, this wild events gets better and better every year. Free concerts, world class competitions, week long art shows put on by State of the Art, an indoor skate park, a fashion show and even something for the dogs.

I was there covering events last year and am stoked to announce that I'll be there again this year along with photographer and cool guy, Gordon Ross.

Hope to see you there!
n/aCarmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art had a show on March 5th with HUSH and FLIP. Apparently. Ron Jeremy was also there to enjoy the artistic prowess.

n/aI was trying to cut down on the heavy stuff I travel with so I decided to leave the DSLR at home and head to the Ayden Gallery with just the Panasonic Lumix. I apologize in advance for the photo quality.I won't be making that mistake again.
The few photos that make the cut from the recent exhibition at the Ayden Gallery have been posted.
n/aMax Kauffman had his first solo show in Asheville, NC at Push Gallery last weekend and took a few photos from the show.

Lots of instillation love for Ghosts of Industry

..also, Max has found his way to twitter, go bug him
n/aYikes...where the hell have I been? Well, I was recently in Vancouver for a few days to gather intel on a couple of events.. past (sorry) and future.
Recently, the fine folks at AntiSocial Skate shop and gallery had an anniversary party and a book launch pre-show party for Made for Skate.

Yes, it has already happened, but if you didn't know about AntiSocial already, now you do.

n/a

Made For Skate is a
recount of footwear throughout the history of this renegade sport by as told through collaborated tales from some of the most epic and influential skateboarders.

This awesome collectible book is currently available through AntiSocial Skateshop (Vancouver).

n/a

Hey there show goers....Just a reminder that
Max Kauffman is having his first solo show tonight in Asheville, NC at Push Gallery.

I'm sure Max will be taking a bunch of photos but if you are in the area, head down with a camera, take a couple shots, drink a few beers, high fives and send us some photos!
n/aFor those of you looking for the de-lites of Stickerbomb (published by Laurence King) in the Vancouver area, head over to Dandelion Emporium @ 2442 Main St.

They carry many crafty finds as well as an array of books by Laurence King Publishing.
n/aWhat is this, the Ben Templesmith update page... well, maybe..at the moment.

Word just came in that Chris Columbus' 1492 Entertainment has picked up the film rights to IDW Publishing's horror graphic novel 'Welcome to Hoxford.' As many of you know, Templesmith owns the sinister hands behind the art of '30 Days of Night' comic series, among other delightful rubbish.

WELCOME TO HOXFORD is 100% Templesmith from the art to the words so yeah, we'll all cross our legs and hope the option goes Hollywood for the silly bugger.
n/a

Ben Templesmith

...has completed his 'Presidents of the United States' book, published by IDW, and has recently been interviewed by comiXology. Ben covers his artistic process, future projects and mutating crotches.
n/a This lucky kitten is off to San Francisco next week for Jeremy Fish's first solo show at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery, as well as various other happenings including but not limited to; Sketch Tuesdays  and Cut-N-Paste at the LoBot Gallery. Artists interviews and studio tours to boot.

I'll have some brand-spanking-new wallfarmers stickers to give away as well...designed by Phresha and Seamo1.

If you have suggestions for artists to visit or places to go, feel free to send an email along. tarah(at)wallfarmers(dot)ca

n/a Join New Zealand Internet blackout protest
against insane copyright law!
If you haven't heard yet, there's some crazy stuff going on in NZ regarding copyright laws and policing ISP addresses. (learn more) If you have a twitter account or some other web-based social networking site where you hang out, lend a hand by posting a blacked-out avatar and the link for the protest site, www.geekzone.co.nz.
Thanks heaps.

This guy lives and breathes his art and it shows in every piece. SEAMO1 deserves a better intro but I'm saving some words for his upcoming featured artist interview.

Do yourself a favor and visit his flickr site and stay a while. He just killed a custom sticker design for wallfarmers that will be available in sticker packs soon.

Have a question for SEAMO1? send it to info(at)wallfarmers(dot)ca

Ok, so we all know how Vancouver has crazy graffiti but I was talking to this guy the other day and he was like, oh, I'm all nice and unassuming and giving you great attentive customer services, then BAM, he throws down the link to his website and I was like... why isn't this guy just yelling 'I'm Awesome' into the phone right now?
n/a Umm, yes, it is what you think it is and this is the  story from Kingpin at Drunk Republic.
 (thanks Michael)
n/aUK artists, Fabric Lenny launched a new site a while back. Tons of new art and online store.
Check out that Neighbor Wood stuff...custom and kind!
n/a For those of you who don't know, NYCC is coming up this weekend and I'm delighted to announce that 3 wallfarmers artists are going to be there; Camilla d'Errico, Ben Templesmith and Steve Talkowski, as well as good friend, Brian Wood.
If you are in New York this weekend, make it a priority to go to this show. Obviously there will be comics, but lots of independent artists, vinyl toys and exclusive goods you won't see anywhere else!
n/aI always get excited when something new shakes up this town. See these 4 guys on the left, well they put together an adult comic book, had it printed here in the Comox Valley and are now having a comic launch party right downtown Courtenay.
The comic is called 'Dystopia' and the launch is at Zocalo Café and Gallery on Friday February 6th. Doors open at 7pm. More details are in the 'Upcoming Shows' section.

If you are a hacker... why don't you do something rad, like these crazy Texans who warned drivers of upcoming Zombies. YES!
n/aA Vancouver friend sent this article along::
Road kill gets a second life as art.... Not sure I'm into the turtle hand for a key-chain, but the big fuzzy 'Roadquill' ball looks kind of cool. I bet it's soft.

From the guy who brought us socks that spell 'fun' :: Mark Stuckert, completes his series Exhibit 06 (Juxta).

Some of these images will be on display @ the

n/a That's right kids...wallfarmers is finally having a launch party/art show.

It's about time to celebrate a lot of hard work from the artists who have contributed to the site and to thank the hitters for coming back time and time again.
Thank you to the galleries for letting me shoot their shows and to my friends who hold my beer while I take pictures.
2009 is going to be a very busy year!
n/aThe folks over at Global Inheritance are sporting this thing that can power your holiday decorations, iPhone or TV.
It's called the Global Inheritance Plug & Play Energy Bike and 100% of the proceeds go to the Global Inheritance Energy FACTory initiative that showcases renewable energy sources throughout North America...and it's freaking sweet
