Gillian Brooks

Gillian is a big city girl stuck in a tiny little beer swilling town on Vancouver Island. This chick will fool you with her pranks and youthfulness, but I assure you, this 28 year old yearling has some wicked insight to the art world and a twisted view of the downward spiral of society.

Gillian was blessed with parents who were hip to her artistic site and gave her free rein to paint up her bedroom walls with images from her childhood.  Her first mural was a detailed scene from the jungle book that looked so close to the originals that she immediately recognized the power of her own talent. 
Through friends, she discovered graffiti and with the gift of an innocent face, she quickly became the ‘look out’ for her tagging friends and eventually grew from  patsy to skilled mural artist inspired by the underground graffiti movement. 

At this point she had moved from London, Ontario to Victoria,BC and got a job working for the ‘man’ but the love of art never left her. She began painting custom murals in homes and eventually moved to Cumberland, BC.

Since relocating, she has been busy repainting crazy retro furniture, working with textiles, and recently went through Andy MacDougall’s screen printing course at his Squeegeeville Studio.
