Cory Stewart is one of those artists that's passionate about everything, especially ART. Sometimes it feels like he dumbs down his talent so the rest of us can try to understand it.
Ridiculed as a youth for being a good skater and an artist only made Cory excel on both fronts, now to the point where he has a hard time biting his tongue because he knows the criticism he has for others will only make them strive to push their abilities.
On Friday December 11th, in Vancouver at Cory's studio/gallery space, he is hosting a bit of a mad science show with some other great artists of varying degrees. The show is called Frequency and you should definitely check it out.

Hey Cory, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions. Since this is an email interview and not actual dialog, lets just pretend we are hanging out, drinking tea and bowling or something rad like that.
Wlfmrs: Can you give up your age and location?
Cory: Im 37 years of age, BC boy.

Wlfmrs: Tell em what you do.
Cory: I spread color as often as I can .
Wlfmrs: How long have you been arting and what has it done for you?
Cory: I've done this stuff my whole life, but didn't show it until I was in my early thirty's.
Wlfmrs: How would you describe the progression of your work from your earlier drawings to your current pieces?
Cory: I call it a re-realization, I notice myself falling back on my old loves and fears, it all helps to tell the story .
Wlfmrs: Have you ever been pantsed by my brother?
Cory: ya I love him for it too. He called me a fucking tool so much I painted it when I understood what it was to be a tool. I'm a proud tool now.
Wlfmrs: What kind of things inspire your work?
Cory: Your bro and all my skate bros even the haters I love the haters the most, they need it .
Wlfmrs: Tell me about this show you have coming up. Who's in it and what should people expect to see there?
Cory: ok I called a old dude named Jimbow from Granville Ink, he is a tattoo artist and a friend, I love that dude so much, he gave me so much to think about. I got him to call his art bros
and do a show together. I got a crazy mix of styles too not just paintings .

Wlfmrs: You have a pretty crazy travel schedule with all the back and forths on the island, even more than me. You still manage to find time to rock some pieces, do you work better under the pressure of deadlines or does it mess you up?
Cory: I feel life is short so do as much as you can now, I like to paint in almost any situation.

Wlfmrs: Tell me about your work in Japan. You were involved in a show over there and working on your art, right? Plans to go back?
Cory: I just painted and made friends and then little by little I gave things (art) away and it just happened. I found art jobs soon after. So nice over there. I love Japan more than Van man hehehehehe !
Here are some graffiti shots from downtown Yokohama, Japan.

Cory: bike rides. I love to ride my old one speed cruzers
Wlfmrs: I know you love your bike, do you want to tell me about it? Does it have a name? When's the last time you cuddled with it?
Cory: last nite and its name is cory's bike !
Wlfmrs: Any last comments or shout outs, as they say?
Cory: I hate no one and try my best to understand other peoples art and that is life .
