My first introduction to ((sounder)) was through artist, Michael Sieben, who did an oddly adorable cartooned music video for track #2, 'Those Days Were Good Days (as Days Sometimes Are)'. This was also my hook as I patiently waited for the release of their full-length CD, Good Things Come and Go Like Bad Things.
Brilliantly morose with colourful descriptions of joyless hope wrapped in sweet crescendos. Before I knew it, ((Sounder)) quickly became a frequent flyer in my 'most played' list.
((sounder)) consists of visual artist Mike Aho and photographer Steve Stratton who fondly refer to their prose as a musical project. Among the guest singers who contribute to their rhythmical antics, Travis Millard, Mel Kadel, Keil Johnson, Dave Bryant and Kelly Marie.
The ((sounder)) Directors Collaboration was a series of music videos released throughout 2008 as part of ‘Good Things Come and Go Like Bad Things’, the second full-length record. These videos translate selected songs through "drawing, painting, animation, found footage, film and beer."

After watching and listening to these videos, I can't help but think of Sieben's gangly characters every time I hear 'Those Days Were Good Days (as Days Sometimes Are)'. The art syncs with the music and the music syncs with the art...forever.I instantly took to ((sounder)) with their somewhat gritty sounds and say-what-you-feel lyrics. Like you've been walking through a dark alley and can be guaranteed that something bad is going to happen...but you'll enjoy your guts while they're still inside.
((sounder))'s last album was distributed by and available through Volcom Entertainment.
