Highly inspired by bedtime stories and comic book consumption as a child, Plock's resulting nostalgia drives the creation of his art today. Plockutilizes his art practice as a mental and emotional outlet, where he illustrates the childhood spirit of make-believe and fantasy. The artist, a storyteller by nature with a formal education in creative writing and modern literature, easily capsulatesa full narrative voiced through a single character. He breathes a sense of humor and cheer into his pieces by depicting unexpected characters (such as TuffTaco), monsters and animals in everyday human conditions. He cites Japanese comics and cartoons as consistent influences for his work as well as traditional Ukiyo-e wood block prints.

In This Fear You May Know, Skinner is Inspired by science fiction fantasy books and films from the 1920s to the 1950s, and comic books published in the 1960s and 70s. Skinner paints large works of devastated wasteland landscapes and remarkably detailed ferocious monsters and installs them in self-constructed ambient gallery spaces that illustrate hyperbolized metaphors of the desolation, chaos, and suffering he sees in the world.
David Cook's Epic Battles surrounds an elaborately themed body of work around a tale of love, hate, sex, and death between a high priestess, a two-headed king, and their respective armies of fantastical creatures. The artist's imagery employs a mythological language inspired by such subversive influences as heavy metal music and personal friendships.
